The following information is designed to provide you with relevant information on the transfer of qualifications process and what this may mean for you the coach.
Transfer of Qualifications Process
This transfer process applies to all sports, although it will not happen in the same timeline for each of them. Starting September 1, 2009, transfers will be implemented only once a sport has received final approval for a Context, and as a result, moved to the new NCCP. Moreover, it will only be applicable to Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications at first; Level 3, 4 and 5 transfer will occur at a later time.
The policy allows each sport to establish equivalencies within an established framework. This means that each National Sport Organization, in collaboration with Provincial and Territorial Sport Organizations, will be responsible to develop their own NCCP Transfer of Qualifications Plan, specific to their sport, and then implement those changes, based on support and directions provided by CAC.
As a coach, you are not required to take any action. Once the Levels to Contexts equivalencies have been approved for your sport and are ready to be implemented by your sport governing body, this transition will happen seamlessly and changes that apply to your coach transcript will automatically show in the NCCP Database.
In the meantime, we would like to encourage you to complete any partial qualifications you may have in progress. Although Levels qualifications will maintain their face-value once the transfer is completed, you will not be able to complete certification in them. Completing these qualifications right now may also provide you with a more complete or advanced Context qualification. Do not hesitate to contact your National Sport Organization to see what training is available.
The transfer of qualifications from Levels to Contexts is an important step in the transition to the new NCCP. We thank you for your collaboration and encourage you to contact your National Sport Organization if you have any questions or concerns regarding this process. You can also refer to the Policy on Recognition of Levels-NCCP Coach Qualifications in the Policies and Guidelines section of www.coach.ca for more details on the policy and its repercussions.
Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to update your personal information on the NCCP Database; this is our direct link to keep you informed of initiatives such as the transfer of NCCP qualifications and we appreciate your help in keeping it as pertinent and current as possible.
