Updating from old NCCP system to new NCCP system for Coaches who are already in on the Old NCCP system is being inplemented.
As with the Introduction to Competition Part A and B, the Coaching Association of Canada has now completed the transition from the Level 3 Theory program to Multi-sport Competition Development. The following provides information on how the new program will work in the NCCP competitive stream.
The transition from Level 3 Theory to the Multi-sport Competition Development modules has left some coaches with NCCP courses from both the old and new program.
Below will explain the pathway a coach should take to receive their equivalency for the Level 3 Theory to the new Competition Development program.
· If a coach has taken the Introduction to Competition Part A (multi-sport) and Part B (multi-sport) they need to take the Making Ethical Decision (MED) online (no cost), it is found at www.coach.ca and the link is on the right hand side of the page. They also must complete 4 out of the 6 Competition Development modules.
· If a coach took the old Level 1 and Level 2 they are required to take the Ethics module (only) from Part A (multi-sport) and the Designing a Basic Sport Program (only) from the Part B (multi-sport). They will pay the full course amount even though they are only taking the one module. When the coach takes the Ethics module they are required to take the Making Ethical Decision (MED) online (no cost), it is found at www.coach.ca and the link is on the right hand side of the page. They also must complete 4 out of the 6 Competition Development modules.
· If a coach took an integrated program (sport specific) through their PSO and are now required to take the Ethics module from the Part A and the Design a Basic Sport Program from Part B. These two modules may have been included in their sport specific program, but doubtful. They must then go online to www.coach.ca and take the Making Ethical Decisions (MED) module (no cost). Coaches must take 4 of the 6 Competition Development modules in order to meet the requirements of the Level 3 equivalency.
· A coach should always be encouraged to contact their PSO to make sure they have met the standards for their sport in Level 3 and also to make arrangements to complete their technical and practical components.
· The six Multi-sport Competition Development modules are as follows: the cost of each module is $20.00
§ Managing Conflict
§ Doping Prevention (Leading a Drug Free Sport)
§ Psychology of Performance
§ Coaching and Leading Effectively
§ Prevention and Recovery
§ Developing Athletic Abilities
The 2009-2010 NCCP E-Brochure (no hard copies being printed) will have all the Introduction to Competition Part A and Part B modules individually listed so a coach can register for the modules required. As well, stand alone modules will be offered, Sport Nova Scotia will be running Making Ethical Decisions (4 hours) and Designing a Basic Sport Program (4 hours) only for the coaches needing to upgrade.
