I've sent this to the website for posting but until it shows up there, you can read this version:
It is with profound regret that I must announce that the book of Nova Scotia provincial records has been lost. I’ve been told the records had been in disarray for some time but, now that I’ve been looking for them, no one is able to produce the record book. I know that people in this province have posted some very impressive scores over the years and now we must start again. As disappointing as this is, it is also an opportunity for re-focusing the provincial records gathering process and policy. This is how we will go forward:
Records will be submitted to the target director within 6 months of being shot. Records will only be kept from shoots registered with Archery Canada where there was a judge present. To claim a record, a copy of the scorecard must be sent to the Target Director by mail, or as a scanned image attached to an email. The scorecard must have:
· correct math,
· the archer’s full name,
· Archery Canada number,
· the date of the shoot,
· the category of the shoot,
· the signature of the archer and another scorer,
· The signature of a provincial (or higher) Judge,
· The place where the score was shot,
· The birthday of the archer.
Along with the score card, the archer must submit the description of the record being claimed. Scores can only be submitted by AANS members in good standing. They can be shot at registered shoots anywhere, so long as the style of the shoot matches the Archery Canada Event description in its rulebook. Records will be entered in the Official AANS Record Book and will be updated on the website. With luck, we won’t have to repeat this exercise.
In order to reclaim some of the records shot in the past. I’m declaring a 1 year amnesty. If you can present me a scorecard with the proper information from anytime in the past, I will grant the record. Additionally, if you can show me on the Archery Canada Website where the event and score was registered, I will accept that as proof. This practice will end on Dec 31, 2012. After that records can only be claimed by submitting a scorecard for a shoot in the last 6 months.
