In the 3D hunter class can you use an adjustable sight even if you have no intention of moving your site.

This is what I see in the FCA rules....

    Hunter - HUN(m/f) or HUN(m) & HUN(f)

    1. A compound, recurve, or longbow may be used.

    2. The bow may be shot with a release aid, a finger tab, a glove or bare fingers.

    3. If a sight is used, it must be fixed:

    · a crosshair style sight will have no more than four crosshair points.

    · a fixed pin sight will have no more than (4) pins.

    · a circle pin sight must have all circles of the same size.

    · it must not have a lens whether magnifying or not.

    · It may not be electronic.

    Thanks

Yes you can use a moveable sight in the hunter class as long as you dont move it during the shoot.

It's often disconcerting to see an archer sporting a Surelock Sight in the hunter class. Think of it this way: most quality, multi pin sights are 'gang adjustable'. In other words you can move the pins, as a group, for adjustments due to slight changes to the bow or archer's form. Anyone with a reasonable multi pin sight could move their top pin on each target as a method of distance adjustment during the shoot. They don't because this is not allowed in the hunter class. The alternative is to tell all the hunters with gang adjustable sights that they are not allowed in the hunter class. (Which would be just about all of us.)

SureLock offers multi-pin attachments specifically for this purpose because archers have discovered having a multipin sight at the end of a long arm separates the pins so aiming is much easier. Typically these archers sight in their individual pins at the begining of the season and then make slight adjustments the morning of the shoot. Once the shoot begins, the sight must not be moved until the shoot is over.

It should be noted, that someone with a single pin on their Surelock could shoot the hunter class if they did not move it but held above or below the target. This is a distinct possibility at shoots where the mas distance is 30m.

Here is another section of the FCA 3D Rules which may bring some clarity:

"11.11.2.3 Sights, when allowed must not extend more than twelve (12) inches from the nearest point of attachment to the bow.
A sight in any fixed sight class must not be moved while on the range during a tournament, whether or not the sight can be moved without the use of a tool."

It is unfortunate that they do not state this with the equipment classes. It is a couple of pages before.
