Club Safety Officers & Club Judges

In 2005 Archery Canada initiated requirements to promote safe practice of archery at all its affiliated clubs and sanctioned events. Our PSO (Provincial Sport Organization) agreement requires that each affiliated club have at least two of a combination of either or both certified Safety Officers or certified Club Judges who are knowledgeable of and implements Archery Canada Safety Regulations at their respective club. This initiative is intended to ensure that common and consistent safety practices are promoted, and that we can demonstrate to the public that we are implementing measures to promote safety.

With the intent of this initiative in mind, AANS recognizes the need to ensure safe venues, equipment and practices at all activities. This extends not only to Safety Officers and Club Judges at each club who may or may not be in attendance at each activity, but also to every person who commonly has charge and responsibilities at archery activities to ensure a safe environment and practices. Therefore AANS expects that each Instructor, Coach and Judge be trained and certified in Archery Canada Certified program.

What is required of the club?
AANS, as per our PSO agreement, is requesting that all clubs include the name of at least two of a combination of either or both certified Safety Officers and/or certified Club Judges on their club membership applications in 2012.
